Combining truly unique book-matched cuts of Sinker Cypress with a modern mechanical lift system, this table can easily transform from a desk or kitchen table to a standing work station or bar-height surface with the press of a button.
The term Sinker refers to the fascinating history behind this piece. Hundreds of years ago, the only way to transport these massive trees was to float them down-river. During the process, 20% of the logs would sink to the bottom due to excessive water content, and over time, become entombed in sediment. Not unlike buried treasure, these magnificent trees were perfectly preserved.
The rings on these specific cuts of Cypress tell a 700-year-old story, with mineral deposits that hint to a 200-year stay at the bottom of a North Carolina river. Include the necessary multi-year drying process, and this single table packs nearly a millennium of history.
